From ACCIONA 100% EcoPowered, a big hug to Kito de Pavant from Groupe Bel… ! What a drag! This is going to disrupt his plans for the Vendée Globe, but I’m really sure he’ll be at 100% performance for the Vendée Globes’s start. He got away last night and now he was right there…I was pushing really hard to recover miles towards him.

I’ve finished bracing the sails on our ‘red beast’ and soaked up the umpteen puddles dotted around the boat. It’s been all go today on board the ACCIONA 100% EcoPowered. I’ve been trying out a range of combinations in an attempt to get the most our of the boat’s performance and the truth is that it’s been non-stop since daybreak: taking off a reef, varying the solent and genoa, filling up the ballast and pulling up & down the daggerboards, stacking fore and to the sides… There are so many things you need to do to get the most out of the boat and the only way is through constant trial and error. The second stage from the Europa Warm’Up (2,400 miles between Cascais –La Rochelle) is now a reality, after the starting signal at 17’00, and it’s going to suppose a final proof for all the IMOCA’s 60 skippers before the Vendée Globe.
